Lust Stories Movie Review
Lust Stories is a Netflix original movie that tells the stories of 4 women who have trouble in their lives with decisions relating to sex. These 4 stories of women are directed by 4 different directors describing the different types of problems they face.
What I like in "Lust Stories''?
I like that the movie makes a statement that sex is nothing to be hidden. Sex is nothing that must be whispered anymore. It is something that is real and there's no need to be awkward around that topic when it pops up.
I appreciate that the makers of the movie wanted to make this to be acknowledged to the audience.
What I did not like in "Lust Stories''?
There are 3 things that I just hated about the movie.
1)Masturbation
The Movie portrays masturbation in one of the stories. I do not like the fact that these kinds of influences are being made in movies be it any movie for a fact. Masturbation is giving pleasure to one's own body. There is a scene in the movie where a stand-up comedian talks about masturbating while imagining Hrithik Roshan. Sex is basically something that a married couple must share with each other where they give pleasure to their own spouses. Whereas in masturbation it is enjoying their own bodies! Imagine if, in a married couple, one of them masturbates thinking of somebody other than their own spouse! Nobody would like that.
Since movies influence the majority of today's generation these kinds of scenes and talks affect the teens making them also have this pleasure when they could be doing something better and productive with their hyper energy.
2) Sex Scenes
Again talking about movies influencing today's younger generation, intimate visuals of sex is nothing but porn. Such kind of scenes make the ones who have inexperienced sex or haven't had any sexual intercourse want to have sex as it seems fun as shown in the movies. But unfortunately, today's world is in such a state where we are just totally dipped into the entertainment and film industry. This movie which has all the popular directors and actors AND which is available only on Netflix is not something that can be avoided by teenagers.
3) Adultery
2 of the 4 stories in the movie portray adultery and 2 of the 4 stories portray premarital sex. Premarital sex is common in Western culture. They make it a point to lose their virginity before marriage and believe it or not it's one day going to be common in India as well. Whereas adultery is something that we don't see much in Western culture or in any culture. Sure, it's nothing wrong to portray it but, the fact that nothing in the movie denies this hurts me. The movie could have had a better ending. There is no necessity to make our movies Hollywood-type. We Indians admire movies with some action, comedy, love, and most importantly a wonderful inspiring story to end with which is to be learned and which spreads positive vibes to the world.
Overall I'd say it was an ''OK'' movie on the whole.
