Lust Stories Movie Review
Lust stories is a Netflix original movie which tells the stories of 4 woman who have trouble in their life about decisions relating to sex. These 4 stories of woman are directed by 4 different directors describing the different type of problems they face.
What I like in "Lust Stories''?
I like it that the movie makes a statement that sex is nothing to be hidden. Sex is nothing which must be whispered anymore. It is something that is real and there's no need to be awkward around that topic when it pops up.
I appreciate that the makers of the movie wanted to make this to be acknowledged to the audience.
What I did not like in "Lust Stories''?
There are 3 things that I just hated about the movie.
1)Masturbation
The Movie portrays masturbation in one of the stories. I do not like the fact that these kind of influences are being made in movies be it any movie for a fact. Masturbation is giving pleasure to ones own body. There is a scene in the movie where a stand up comedian talks about masturbating while imagining Hrithik Roshan. Sex is basically something which a married couple must share with each other where they give pleasure to their own spouses. Whereas in masturbation it is enjoying their own bodies! Imagine if in a marriage couple one of them masturbate thinking of somebody other than their own spouse! Nobody would like that.
Since movies influence the majority of today's generation these kind of scenes and talks affect the teens making them also to have this pleasure when they could be doing something better and productive with their hyper energy.
2) Sex Scenes
Again talking about movies influencing today's younger generation, intimate visuals of sex is nothing but porn. Such kind of scenes make the ones who have inexperienced sex or haven't had any sexual intercourse to want to have sex as it seems fun as shown in the movies. Sex must be the last thing on their minds as they are the future. But unfortunately today's world is in such a state where we are just totally dipped into the entertainment and film industry. And this movie which has all the popular directors and actors AND which is available only on Netflix is not something which can be avoided by the teenagers.
3) Adultery
2 of the 4 stories in the movie portrays adultery and 2 of the 4 stories portrays premarital sex. Premarital sex is common in the western culture. They make it a point to lose their virginity before marriage and believe it or not it's one day going to be common in India as well. Whereas adultery something where we don't see much in the western culture nor in any culture. Sure, it's nothing wrong to portray it but, the fact that nothing in the movie denies this hurts me. The movie could have been done better ending with a message. There is no necessity to make our movies Hollywood type. We Indians admire movies with some action, comedy, love and most importantly a wonderful inspiring message to end with which is to be learnt and which spreads positive vibes to the world.
Overall I'd say it was an ''OK'' movie on the whole.
